The thumb flip is probably the easiest chip trick you can learn to do. But even dough it’s easy to learn, it still looks kind’a cool and also it’s pretty fun to do while at a poker table. Thursday, June 11, 2020 Poker Chip Tricks. They might not help your online poker game very much, but chip tricks are still cool! Here are some instructions and video clips (coming soon) to help you on your way to becoming a master of chip tricks. To achieve this trick, flip the very bottom card of the deck around. While the trickee looks at the card they’ve picked, you flip the deck around so that the faced-in bottom card is now the top. The trick is done by using the pads on your palm near your thumb to shoot the coin up into the air. Open your dominant hand and study your palm. Notice the padded area at the base of your thumb. This is the magic spot where you will place the coin. Grab a larger coin like a half-dollar or even a poker chip.
Back to front chip trick might look easy, but it’s actually pretty darn difficult to learn (at least it was for me). The best thing you can do is to learn the thumb flip first and then move on to this one, becouse it requires a lot of the same skills.
OK, let’s get started, step by step…
Step 1.
First thing you should do is hold your chips correctly. The hold is the same as when you’re doing a thumb flip and it should look like this:
Step 2.
Now place your pinky at the bottom of the chip closest to your palm and use your thumb to roll it away from the other chips. At this point you should be holding that single chip with your thumb and pinky, and the other chips with your ring, index and middle fingers.
Step 3.
If you haven’t broken your fingers yet, you will now. Here’s the tough part… bend your index, middle and ring fingers backwards twoards your palm while keeping your pinky and thumb still. Once the single chip is further away from your palm than the rest, use your thumb and pinky to slide it infront of the other chips and you are done!
Useful tips:
- Practice with 3 chips first.
- Try simultaniously bending your index, middle and ring fingers twoards your palm without chips a few times so you’ll get the feel for it.
Enjoy!

Step 2.
Now use your thumb to pull the front chip over the others and place it at the back of the stack like this:
Step 3.
When you got the chip over the stack and in the back, your thumb should be placed on the surface of that chip. Use your thumb to push the stack forward to make up for the missing space of that chip. Like this:
Step 4.
Repeat! Once you get the hang of it you should be able to do thumb flips smoothly one after the other, so just practice, practice, practice.
